Chimneys and fireplaces that are regularly used should generally be inspected annually. An inspection can help determine whether cleaning is needed and identify creosote buildup, blockages, damaged masonry, liner deterioration, moisture problems, or other conditions that may require attention.

Yes. Turn of the Century Chimney uses camera inspection equipment to evaluate areas inside the chimney that cannot be adequately viewed from the fireplace opening. Video inspections can help identify hidden cracks, gaps, blockages, buildup, and flue liner deterioration.

Moisture is one of the biggest concerns for masonry chimneys. Kansas rain, ice, temperature changes, and freeze-thaw cycles can contribute to cracked brick, deteriorated mortar joints, and damaged chimney crowns. Age and previous repairs can also affect masonry condition. An inspection can determine what type of repair is appropriate.

Yes. Turn of the Century Chimney provides chimney crown repair, masonry repair, flashing solutions, and waterproofing in Maize. Because chimney leaks can originate from several different areas, the system should first be inspected to locate the source of the moisture and determine the appropriate repair.

Waterproofing can be useful when masonry is vulnerable to water absorption. A professional chimney evaluation can determine whether masonry repairs are needed first and whether a vapor-permeable waterproofing treatment is appropriate for the chimney. Waterproofing should complement necessary repairs rather than cover up existing damage.
